This paper is a reflective look at my practice over the past number of years. I am re- examining the role of the model from a naive point of view. This contribution is subjective and demonstrates how models in my practice have been the initiators in the preliminary process leading to a design product, object, and also an abstract process for generating knowledge. The abstraction of the model is a way to get both close and distant from a particular point (known or unknown), and expose the most relevant information. These models become facilitators in revealing both questions and suggestions solutions.
