A Way In

This work evolved from a series of objects created from found materials; plastic, glass, lino scraps, wood etc and assembled into small structures. I was very restricted in my skill set to create beautiful objects with these materials. This restriction made me explore and really expand the possibilities of these very basic objects.

To compensate for the absolute lack of craftsmanship I used these objects as a point of intersection to explore various mediums and contexts through a mixture of digital manipulation, drawing and photography. I imagined them as far away as I could from the studio table, manipulating and merging them to sit in gallery walls, float in a white vacuum or balance on the edge between other dimensions and other worlds. Occasionally I placed a solitary figure in the picture for scale, but on reflection I think these spaces are more open and ambiguous without.
